Glycosylated haemoglobin (HbA1c) levels are used as an indicator of blood glucose in diabetic patients. It is formed by the conjugation of a hexose sugar to the beta-chain of haemoglobin A. HbA1C builds up in red blood cells throughout their lifetime and its levels therefore represent a record of blood glucose levels over the previous 8 weeks or so. The subunit has mol wt of 18kD.||Source:|Human erythrocytes||Molecular Weight: |~68kD||Storage and Stability: |May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
