Elastase, like trypsin and chymotrypsin, is a serine protease that also hydrolyses amides and esters It is produced in the pancreas as an inactive zymogen, proelastase, and activated in the duodenum by trypsin. Elastase is distinctive in that it acts upon elastin.||Source:|Porcine Pancreas||Form:|Supplied as an aqueous solution. After dissolution and prior to use, sterile filter at 0.22um.||Unit Definition:|1 unit releases 1µmole of p-nitro-phenyl-phosphate per minute at 25ºC, pH 8.0, using SucAla3NA as substrate||Activity:|≥3Units per mg protein||Concentration:|~25mg protein/ml|Units/ml: ≥ 100u/ml||Quality Control:|SDS-Page||Storage and Stability:|Store at 4ºC. Do not freeze. Mix well prior to use. Due to the viscous nature of this preparation, it is recommended to rinse the vial with sterile dH2O or buffer to recover the total contents.
