ALOX5 (arachidonate 5-lipoxygenase) is also named as LOG5, 5-LO and belongs to the lipoxygenase family. It catalyzes the first step in leukotriene biosynthesis, and plays a role in inflammatory processes. It is a 78kD iron-containing enzyme that translocates from the cytosol to associate with FLAP, and converts arachidonate in two steps into the unstable intermediate LTA4. It is essential for cysteinyl-leukotriene (cys-LT) production, critical mediators in asthma.||Applications: |Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunofluorescence, Western Blot. Other applications not tested.||Recommended Dilution:|Immunofluorescence: 1:20-1:100|Western Blot: 1:200-1:2000|Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.||Storage and Stability:|May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
