Cardiotinisahighmolecularweightproteincomplex(300kD)locatedinthemitochondriaofcardiomyocytesandskeletalmuscle.Thecardiotinstructureexistsofsubunitsof60kDand100kD,probablyinatetramericconfiguration.Bothsubunitscontainthesameamino-terminal14amino-acidsequence,showinghighhomologytohumanskeletalmusclealpha-actinin.
Duringcardiaccontractiledysfunctionandmyocardcelldifferentiation,thecardiotindistributionisaffected.Comparedtootherstructuralproteins,cardiotinisoneofthefirsttorespondtoinsults(ischemia,fibrillation)thatinfluencethefunctionalstatusofcardiomyocytes.
Applications
SuitableforuseinImmunohistochemistry(frozenandparaffinsections)andWesternBlot.Otherapplicationsnottested.
